51- New Possibilities

Ok, I swear my father has that exact same guitar, and your stalking of me continues.

And I’m kind of reminded of Wayne’s World.

    What an entrance!

What did Elsa say about Dr. Jones Sr. in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade? “Giddy as a schoolgirl”. I think that labels Jay to a “t” in the final panel.

You captured the salesman pretty well, as well.

A PS3? wow! I’m sooo jealous! That’s almost worth moving back to Sweden for. ;)

Ha!! “Eviction!” Excellent!! And LOVE all the detail in the art. Is it me, or are you putting more and more lil’ details in your drawing? I mean, in the last panel, the guitar silhouettes in the background go from 4 to 3 to 2 string thingies… and look at that guitar Jay’s buying! Wow! Just keeps getting better and better, Irma. ;-)

Sophielynette: Haha!! I told you to be careful… you never know who’s watching ;) And OH yes, being how Wayne’s World is one of my favorite movies ever (I can quote almost the entire thing, much to the dismay of people around me), I thought of WW when I was doing this strip, when Wayne goes in to finally buy that guitar he’s been drooling over for ages. Actually, now that you mention it, I think the “my good man” part seeped into this strip subconsciously because of that!

me!: Yes! Every time I look at Jay in that last panel I chuckle, and your “giddy as a schoolgirl” remark makes me laugh even harder. It’s exactly what I was going for!

Leslie: Yes yes yes! If you move back I’ll let you beat me at Guitar Hero every time! And I’ll make you carob cake!! :D

David: Thank you! Yes, I am putting more detail, I was bored of those plain panel ones I’d been doing. I thought it was time to step it up. But, unfortunately, the details you pointed out where not the ones I intended! Yes, I have made the guitars on the wall different. I’ve changed the shapes of the bodies and heads to represent telecasters and stratocasters, but you can’t really see that so well because the characters and bubbles are in the way. Anyone who knows the difference, however can see that the visible guitar on the wall in panel 4 is absolutely a telecaster. But the string thing was a mistake… I just accidentally missed some pegs when I was moving over the drawings from illustrator to photoshop! I’ve replaced the renegade pegs now…

People who don’t play guitar just don’t get it. I have 8 guitars and I’m in no need of any help whatsoever. NONE, dang you.

  7. Josh - Pinketon Goodies Admin - Viva La Pinkerton!

I’d have to agree with Wit on this one. GAS (guitar acquisition syndrome) is a well documented mentality. It’s read about much in guitar forums, and there’s even a book out about it.

The only thing that stops me from buying more is the fact I haven’t been playing much lately… that, and the fact that someone gifted me a couple of guitars last year that are really holding me over, when I do play.

Also, congrats on the PS3. I really think it’s my favorite console I’ve owned, and if not, it’s close behind the SNES I had growing up :)

  8. me! (prematurely disappointed)

@wit – admitting you need help is the first step. Strangely, after reading today’s Pinkerton, it appears you’re 4 steps below that. Must be that new math.

wit: I do my best to get it. I have to get it… by orders of the Man. ;)

Josh: Hi there Josh!! Welcome! Yes I’ve heard much about that syndrome. I am witness to it in my own home! I don’t really mind though, unlike Imy ;) And thanks, so far we are loving our PS3! Even though we currently only use it for Guitar Hero. It’s extremely difficult to resist the urge to put in a CC# and start downloading stuff, though!

me!: Haha!!! I agree with you on that ;)

    Scott: :-D
