86 - Majestic Squash

I honestly didn’t think I would get a strip up today because of some things going on. But I couldn’t NOT do it. I haven’t missed an update in a VERY long time. I didn’t think it would be appropriate to start yet. Besides, once this idea popped into my head, I couldn’t NOT draw it.

OH, and midway through the creation of today’s strip, I took out a few minutes to fill out my absentee ballot and prepare the envelopes. So tomorrow it gets sent and I will have fulfilled my duties as a U.S. citizen (living abroad). Woo!

Oh yeah, also? I am, as of yesterday, officially 28 years old, and another year closer to 30. *gulp*

Hehe, good one. I love inanimate objects that sigh. Grats on pushing through and getting it done!

Looks like Imy might be enjoying the pumpkin slaughter a bit too much! Should Jay be scared? ;)

HEHE - love the shiny sparkle on the knife! I’ll be carving mine this weekend. MUA HAHAHA

In other news…Happy Birthday! Hope you had a good day!

I enjoyed the first panel the most (and the final) - I guess there’s just something about a thinking pumpkin that’s rather odd in this strip of thong-like eye patches and Kid Rock tummy tattoos.

Also, I see you’re still using the new font - what are you thinking about it at this point? You liking it better, personally?

And finally… Congratulations on 28! 2 more years to savor before you end up writing comics with bearded rabbits, guinea pig meese (it’s sounds better than moose at this point), and vermin snacking foxes. In order to attempt to make you feel young, I will share the following secret: I will hit the dreaded 30 this forthcoming Sunday, which shall for now on be called “The Day of Dread”.

Tom - Ha! Yeah, I love the signing inanimate objects as well. Which is why I got super excited when I got this idea in my head, and realized I could insert a thinking inanimate object into my own strip for a day!

Webdzines - Thanks so much! Hope you enjoyed reading through the archive! And I hope you continue to return :)

    Utarouge - Thanks! :D

Daniel - Jay should ALWAYS be scared ;)

Teresa - Ha! I’ll be carving mine int he middle of next week, probably Wednesday. The pumpkins in Sweden don’t last so long once they’re carved. I think it’s because they’re imported…

Josh - Glad you liked it! Personally, I was cracking up when I put in the “’sup” and the “sigh” for the pumpkin. Wasn’t sure what other people would think, but it definitely made me chuckle! And isn’t that the most important thin? ;)

As for the font, I’m still undecided. That’s why I used both in this strip! (new font for the narration, old font for the dialog). I’m probably going to play around with it some more before I make a final decision.

And thank you! And a Happy Early Birthday to You! For the record, all of my friends (including my husband) are over 30. And they have survived and are still more fun than a lot of 20-somethings. So I suppose we have nothing to be afraid of. I….suppose… Let me know how the other side looks once you get there! ;)

    Happy Birthday, Irma!

Love this change of pace. This was the perfect way to follow up last week’s strip. Your coloring kicked up a notch too, I see.

30 is nothing to worry about - if you don’t mind a slowing metabolism spiraling into a weight issue and an energy sucking vortex making it tough to party and drink all night while rocking out to your favorite band. Not to mention the wrinkling and the random hair growth!

Try coating your newly carved jack with a little lemon juice - keeps it going for an extra day or so.

    Sorry I am late.
    Happy Birthday to you!

This a fun strip! Very accessible, and well-drawn. I LOLed more than once.
