89 - Letting Go

Coincidentally (or maybe not so much), I threw out my pumpkin today. I figured I better be prudent and not let happen what happened last year: I came home from work to find a smashed pumpkin in a puddle of water on my living room floor. I had no idea that inside the walls it had basically rotted away on the just left water. It still looked pretty good on the outside!

I’ve finally gone back and replied to the comments on Thursday’s strip.

Wow, them pumpkins rot fast in Europe. Out in the cold on the porch in Wisconsin, mine last until Valentines day. True story.

We had these neighbors. It was cute in October but pretty nasty in December. I guess the snow kept the smell down.

This strip is soo funny. I carved my pumpkin the weekend before Halloween and set it outside. We had a few nice weather/sunny days and the teeth on my pumpkin started to cave in like an old person missing their teeth! Poor pumpkin. At least he still looked scary light up in the dark!

I never keep mine in the house once they are carved but Ive left them outside too long and seen the watery mess they make! EEW!

Oh and to answer your question, out of 26 bags of candy purchased for Halloween, we used 23. That was 2-3 pieces per kid. I told you we get a lot of kids!!!

If you let the rotted pumpkin in place long enough you can start your very own maggot farm. My jacks usually take a walk out to the woods the day after Halloween - not a big maggot fan.

    Doug - I refuse! I won’t stop! ;)

me! - They certainly do. At least the ones here in Sweden. Probably because they sit in the store for many many days before you buy them, and are not plucked fresh from the pumpkin patch.

tyler - Hey! I didn’t even realize it myself… but it’s my very first character death! ;)

Wit - Is that what I smell?

Tom - Blame it on Wit!

tbowl - I’ll learn from your mistake then!

    Heather - Eeeewwwwwweeeeeee.

    Scott - Thanks!!!

Teresa - I wish I could have mine outside! But, I’m in an apartment so… sadly, no. But you got 3 bags of candy left! Pretty SWEET!!

gilly Hey! Welcome! And thanks so much! I love hearing when people read through the archives! I hope you continue to come back and read :)

Trent - EEWWWWWEEEEEE. And with that thought in my mind, I’m off to bed :-P
