Great job. Love the coloring and sound effects.

  2. Tom Racine

Love it! And I know the frustration…I was promised flying cars, and the best I have is an SUV that gets 22MPH. What a rip. :) (Jane Jetson was the hottest cartoon mama out there…Josie and the Pussycats gave her a run for her money, but Jane….rrrrrrrowll.)

  3. Luna

OMG I LOVE it! No wonder you were having so much fun earlier! The 3rd panel is awesome! Love the Judy hair on Imy & Mom’s collar on Kat!

It’s actually funny that you did this since T and I were just talking about this the other day!!!

  4. Doug

    HELL YEAH!
I remember watching a “The Jetsons” movie over and over as a kid. Also remember once seeing an ep on Cartoon Network at a friends place. Much younger than me though, and you’ll get confused stares usually.

The day I forget the Jetsons is the day I lose my soul. I’m not sure which causes the other…

Love the coloring and everything. :D

  5. Ed

Great strip, it looks like it came right out of the cartoon (only this is much more stylish!) I imagine Imy would have a robotic puppy in this 1950’s future.

  6. Don

Depending on your choice of propelling-technique, I recommend either a “bssssssss…” or a more solid, industrial “brrrrrrrrrooooww” ;)
Nice lookout though, rocking out in what the 50’s thought was a flying saucer!

  7. Irma

    Mickel – Thank you!

Tom – Haha! Don’t say it too loud. Kat will get jealous ;) (of course, she isn’t a cartoon MOM, but still). And yes, I want my flying car dammit!

    Luna – Haha thanks!

Doug – Ah, nice! A shame that it seems to be getting less and less. Those are some of the BEST cartoons ever!

Ed – SO FUNNY you wrote that – i ALMOST put in a robotic puppy in the back seat!!!! I decided against it but now I feel like I should have LOL

Don – Ah but have you ever heard the Jetsons car sound? It doesn’t sound like “bsssss” or “broooooow”. It’s a very spicific spacey sound. It’s very hard to put into sound effect words!

  8. tyler_durden

flying cars would make life better.
that and pancakes that butter them selves.
    awesome job!

  9. Mike Racicot

Oh yeah..great strip..Luv panel 3..We used to think that by the time we reached the year 2000 we would all be driving flying cars!! The Jetsons are cool..I’ll have to look for the sounds..

  10. wit

LOL. And I always wanted a robot. Hurry up, future!!

  11. gemz

Oh my god i love the Jetsons! luckily we have boomerang over here (uk) That shows it from time to time, i totally know what you mean about the flintstones!

By the way big fan of your comic :)

  12. Tom

    Sweet Irma, this is awesome.

  13. Ben

Hmmm…i have heard of it but never seen it…

  14. Arnie

So I’m no the only one who’s wondered about this… I love the two middle panels. Great storytelling. And funny!

  15. Heather

I’m 18 and I’ve seen the Jetsons but I its been ages since I’ve seen any rerun of it on tv. Awesome strip, makes me smile. I love how off their predictions were

  16. Teresa

I used to watch the Jetsons ALL the time. I have not seen them in any form of a rerun in YEARS! Probably not since my son was younger and he’s almost 17 now.

Man, who was that “rockstar” that Judy was head over heels about? His song used to get stuck in my head for DAYS!!!! It’s probably better that I cant remember because I dont need that song stuck in my head!! haha

*goes to check out Irma’s concert list*

  17. dgriff13

Yeah, by now I thought we’d at least have real hoverboards like in Back to the Future II. And they’d have to make the woooowowowoowowooooo sound too.

Maybe we’ll end up going backwards and have dinosaurs and other creatures run our appliances like in Flinstones. Either way, more entertaining,

  18. Reynard

“Man, who was that ‘rockstar’ that Judy was head over heels about? His song used to get stuck in my head for DAYS!!!! It’s probably better that I cant remember because I dont need that song stuck in my head!! haha”

Because I’m evil: “Eep! Opp! Ork! Ah-Ah!” (And his name was “Jet Screamer”.)

  19. Teresa

    DAMN YOU REYNARD!!!! hahaha

But yeah, that’s part of it…werent there verses too? Something about rhyming and I love you? haha

  20. G. Dupons

I found in a drawer at my grandmothers attic a lot of popular science magazines from the 50s an 60s. When you see the visions of future there and compare it with today there is a big disappointement. But sometimes you are glad, that it didn’t happens. For example, nuclear power was the source of energy for the future then. For example the proposed a small reactor for home use! Or atomic driven cars, ships and even planes. Flying potential atomic bombs, just imagine a crash with such a plane! Or better not…

It looks efficient and clean, but none thought about the problem of nuclear waste and security was no problem too. But with the near desaster in Harrisburg in1979 and of course the Chernobyl catastrophe 1986 changed opinion.

IIRC, there’s a cable channel in Sweden that shows Jetsons. I think it’s 3+ Viasat, but I’m not completely sure.

Anyway, it’s the same place that shows The Simpsons, and IIRC it’s texted, not dubbed.

But maybe I’m mistaken. It’s been a while since I checked.

  22. Irma

JakeS – Ah, I figured SOME pay channel out there was showing it – but I thought it was Cartoon Network. Either way, I don’t have it. Maybe I’ll get it when forced to switch to digital in the coming months. That would be so great! Especially if it’s not dubbed!
