I don’t know how I should feel about Etsy. One of my favorite artists(Jess Fink) got ripped off on Etsy(some woman completely stenciled one of her designs and sold it as her own) and all Etsy did was tell her fans that ‘they were complaining in the wrong place’. :/
I can relate to this because just yesterday we got a catalog in the mail and on the back cover was an ad promoting a “Breakfast with Santa” event on December 10. My daughter saw the cartoon Santa in the ad and said “It’s Santa! It’s Christmas!!!” ‘
It’s that darn free enterprise thing – if left too free and without restraint we will eventually have a year round barrage of specialty holiday promotions with no end.
We need to step up as customers and make them STOP and if they don’t behave we will do something nasty like get bylaws / zoning passed to regulate such shenanigans. Punishment to be fines at double any income generated due to flouting the law.
Repeat offenders to be sentenced to sweating to the oldies with that little troll in holiday themed spandex. [ yeah - I'm evil that way ]
It is because the writing is on the wall and the catalogs are in the mail ….. If you get the series Just For Laughs then the closing line for each show …. It is like the Labor Day weekend or the Air Show at the CNE ….. *sniff* mow I feel sad ….
I definitely know how this feels. Back when I was still working retail, at JoAnn Fabric’s, we’d get shipments of Christmas cargo to start organizing and setting out in fuggin’ SEPTEMBER. It happened in stages, staggered with Halloween and Thanksgiving crap, but STILL. ARGH.
