185 – The Story of Summer Pt. 16
If you need a refresher, you can start re-reading The Story of Summer is here.
Believe it or not, we are close to the end… 🙂 But I’ve been really enjoying it, and I hope you guys have been as well.
And GO AND VOTE for Tall Tale Radio over at the Podcast Awards. TTR, as you all SHOULD know is the podcast over at Tall Tale Features, hosted by Tom Racine. He’s interviewed me a couple of times. The main one can be listened to right here, in case you never did :). TTR is up for an award under the Culture/Arts category. You can vote once a day. How awesome would it be if Tom won? Besides the fact that it would be totally deserved…
Finally, you may have noticed I added some ads up here in the blogging area. I hope it doesn’t bother anyone. I don’t know if I will keep them there. I’m just testing it out. I may eventually move them to the sidebar or get rid of them. We’ll see how it goes.
So close Jay, so close.
was it her or was it memorix?
Ok.. I googled Memorix and I’m still stumped!
That would be because it’s “Memorex” – they make (or made) cassette tapes and had ads where someone would hear something sounding extremely realistic and would have to ask “Is it real or is it Memorex?” That would have been 20 or 25 years ago which is probably why you don’t remember it. I do, since I was older then than you are now….
It doesn’t matter: He’s been reminded of Imy and now he’ll have to go find her. We knew that all along (since this is a flashback) but now he knows it too.
Love panel 3! Fun story Irma.
Thanks Tom! 🙂
So, lemme guess: Jay, in his lust of Imy, shoves through his friends, knocking Summer into the street where she’s struck by Juan, a bike messenger just trying to make ends meet, and after the paramedics separate the tangled bodies, Juan and Summer find love through tragedy and she’s forced to reject Sean’s marriage proposal, sending him in a downward spiral of depression and many nights at the bar sipping frou-frou drinks, rejecting desperate drunken woman after desperate drunken women, finally realizing Jay is to blame for all his misfortune, and after many failed attempts on Jay’s life, including misfired crossbows and poorly wired timebombs, he moves to Saskatchewan to learn the ways of the Eskimos, only to realized he missed the mark by about 1200 miles, and THAT’S why we don’t see Sean anymore?
Hope I didn’t spoil it for anyone.
Ahhh so close! Except replace Saskatchewan with Lappland, which, when misplaced by 1200 miles, means Sean is float somewhere in the north Atlantic.
(super freggin brilliant by the way)
@ me! – HAHAHAHAHA
As for the strip…if I was Jay Id be pushing those two out of the way real quick like!
awww! serves him right though, doesn’t it?
@me! – Funny bit there. Unfortunately, you’ll notice Summer has already accepted the proposal. (Sneaky detail there, Irma! Veeery sneaky.)
Hahaha! Good eye, Doug!
She can still reject his proposal after accepting the ring – my sister does it all the time!
NOOOOOOO! DARN YOU SUMMER AND SEAN!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve already posted two times so why not go for three? And this has nothing to do with this particular strip, but I recently found out that “imi” (pronounced “eemee” just like “Imy”) means “meaning, sense, significance” in Japanese! I think that’s very… uh… significant. Not to mention cool.
BOOM!!!
KABAM!!!
SNAP!!!
*the sound of his hope dying*
Danggit Doug! I was hoping I was the only super awesome sleuth that caught that! LOL
LOL, looks like my kid was here before me too.
LOVE Jay’s expression of hope, angst and uncertainty .
im lovin it! and lol @ the memorex thing! totally showin my age…. haha!
waw..like a TV romance..he will catch her up at the end of the street and then a happy ending kissing scene? 🙂
..oh I didnt notice the ring on Summer´s hand at first… nice detail 🙂
Haha! Nice Gravatar, Mirka! 😉

There’s a guy down there in the third panel that looks kinda like Ben…
