The Cartoonist
I’m Irma and I’m the cartoonist behind this webcomic. I’m the one you praise or blame for everything you see here.
As I write this (today is Sept 22, ’10) I am 29 (but I’ll be 30 in a few weeks). I was born and raised in New Jersey, just short commute from New York City, but I moved to Stockholm Sweden when I was 22 to be with my very own Swede.
Even though I always enjoyed drawing, I never took it seriously until much later. (which explains the defunct Computer Science degree filed away somewhere in my bookshelf). I got deeper into drawing when I was introduced to programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator, and realized I could do whatever I wanted without having to spend money on art supplies. For years I enjoyed doing random digital illustrations, some commission work and some for fun, until November of ’07 when I finally got some ideas for my very first comic strip. Thus “Imy” was born.
Cartooning and illustration is just my hobby for now. During the day I have a job that actually pays the bills where I deal with radio and TV airplay statistics (music plays & top charts). It helps me keep on top of all the new music coming out, but, boy, there is a LOT of crap out there!!
When I’m not drawing or working I’m out with my husband seeing concerts, or just chilling at home with a latte in my hand.
If you want to listen to interviews I’ve done (and I recommend that you do, they’re fun! And answer a lot of questions about “Imy”) then go listen to any of these great podcasts!

Lovely, Bio. And I enjoyed the podcasts too. Thanks!
Great web comic! I found Imy after listening to a TTR podcast. Love the artistry and the depth that you put into each character. It just all fits together so nicely. I visit often and wanted to say thanks for keeping Imy going for so long. What an achievement!
What’s awkward it my names imy. And my best friends name is Kat…
cool bio:)
Would love to get one of your characters of me and my wife
Nice bio! You look very pretty, for starters. It’s nice to get the backstory of what happened before Imy. And by the way, I love the comic, the art style, the humor, and of course, the occasional fourth wall breaking x3
I work on the Orion program, and just received a copy of your comic featuring the Shuttle and Orion. So great!
Irma, thanks for the Imy comic. My other fave of yours was the comic about the planets; whatever happened to it? I really miss it.
