Um…no. I took a short series of allergy shots in the mid-’80s and the needle and syringe was basically the same one that they use for insulin shots, TB tests or vaccinations — very small. You feel it, but not for long.
Hmmmm… At first I thought you were joking, but then it seemed like a serious comment.
Since it is a comic, I’d have thought it was obvious that it’s playing on her fear of needles. It’s just exaggerated to illustrate her fear. I never would have imagined anyone would take it literally.
Make no mistake, I used to be terrified of needles myself. But after about a decade of donating blood plasma (economic necessity outweighs needlephobia *every* time…) I pretty much figured out what my tolerance for pain is and my fear of them has diminished quite a bit.
Well, while we’re on the subject, I’m pretty sure a fish couldn’t text either. And it’s cruel to put him in a coffee pot. And how on earth could Imy afford that Iron Man costume that one time? It’s almost like you’re using your comic to exaggerate things for comic effect.
Maria, thank you! I wish I could turn my comments into a career, but then again, who doesn’t! Of course, my heart is spoken for, so we’ll just have to be comment buddies. 🙂 Too bad you can’t even spell “color” right, though. 🙂
And I loved the color scheme, too, Irma. Your color sense kicks mine in the butt…I learn so much from just looking at how you do your colors and backgrounds.
Hedgehogs aren’t actually that uncomfortable to pick up – they’ve evolved to be seriously inedible, but the quills are scratchy rather than sharp. Kind of like holding a hair brush…
I must say that you’re spot on with this one Irma – the ONE major thing kids in school used to scare each other about when it was time for vaccination shots was the ONE METER LONG needle and the insane amount of stuff that the school nurse was going to inject in your arm. Fear has no logic.
Cherry’s reaction is spot on.
Ha! Yes, Cheery’s got her foot planted a little more firmly in realism than Imy does. 🙂

I might be in love with you Tom. In a “your comments are always funny and spot on” kind of way.
Also, I thought the whole monochrome colour scheme was a tip that it was all in her head. Unrealistic fear. It’s very funny Irma.

The ironly of being terrified of needles ….
Yet, cuddling a hedgehog.

Good God, Imy! Ever heard of Claritin??? 😛
