91 – Obsession
Okay, so, this one is really really taken directly from my life. On Saturday I spent the entire day reading the first book of the ‘Twilight’ series and I just fell in love. Yesterday i went to buy the rest of the books and I’m already more than halfway done with book 2. I know a lot of people seem to be comparing it to Harry Potter but it’s NOTHING like the HP series. The only similarity is it’s extreme popularity. And as much as I am a rabid HP fan, I finally found a series that rivals it. I’m completely in love with these books! I’ve always liked vampire stuff, ever since I can remember. And the story is just beautifully told. The passion, pain and emotion – GOOD STUFF. And my friends and I are going to try to get tickets to the sneak premier next Thursday. I can’t wait!
Anywho… I’m so obsessed I couldn’t possible do a comic that didn’t have to do with it 😉
Oh yeah, I finally went in and finished commenting on the remaining comments in Thursday’s strip.
And don’t forget: If you’re a member of Facebook, become a fan of Imy! And, if you’re a member of Webcomics Inc. join the ‘Imy’ group page.
Nice one again Irma – way to tie it in to your situation – it works great. I’m digging your one panels, they are always really cool.
Mmmobsessions ^^
me with author “john ringo”!
I finished the first one this afternoon. Might have to hit a library in the city tomorrow to get the rest. They don’t have them at our neighborhood one.
no lies! i read the first on saturday and the second on sunday, and i wish i hadn’t purchased them in softcover, since the hardcovers won’t be out for a long time, but i don’t want a mismatched set, but OMG i want to read the rest SO BAD
I am completely obsessed with it as well!! It is the 1 movie I will go to in Whitehorse. I will put up with the mice, crappy gross seats, annoying people and all around bad movie experience for it!
This is a great strip, though I must say “AHHHFIAUDJFSD” at your newfound obsession! I read the books before they were popular and thought they were okay, but now that there is so much hype and promotion for the movie here in the States (it is EVERYWHERE and I’m not even exaggerating), I’m afraid to associate myself with the Twilight fandom!
Example:
Today in California, there was a meet-and-greet type thing with Robert Pattinson at a local mall. They were expecting 150-250 people, and OVER THREE THOUSAND showed up. People started running for the doors once they glimpsed Rob, and people got trampled, one girl broke her nose, several people fainted and people got their purses stolen. The police came and CANCELED the whole event! It was insane! But as long as you don’t become a hyper-fan, that’s okay. 😉
LOL Have fun with your obsession! (I’m sure Imy will ;D)
Tom – Thanks so much! I’m really liking the one panels too. Seems like I can pull them off 🙂
elmindreda – Hehe. Precis.
tyler – Ahhh then you understand 🙂
heatherj – Were you able to get them all? I could imagine it would be hard to especially right now.
cowashee – Yeah I know how you feel! I’m nearly done with “new moon” and I’m so happy that i have the rest so I can read them right away!
Cyndi – YIKES! But I guess if I were in your position, I’d live through that to see the movie too. But… ewe!
Amanda – Jaysus! Thank goodness that kind of mania doesn’t exist over here. I think that if it did I wouldn’t have been as inclined to read it. That’s why it took me many years to give HP a try. Don’t worry, I would never get that crazy. Maybe if I was still 15 though… 😉
This would be so lovely as a wallpaper.
GAH!! My friends are obsessed with the Twilight series as well! And they’re all so in love with some dude in the movie…Jacob something…. I tell them to get a life, but you already seem to have one so that doesn’t seem to be relevant. anyway, have fun with the books.
Most of my time is spent watching and reading things appropriate for my 4yr old.
Soooo, Imy fascinated with Twilight was actually the first I’d heard of it – until last night when I finally watched my DVR of Heroes – I caught the trailer and watched simply because you mentioned it. Luckily I was able to FF through the other multiple times it showed up. Then I heard a local radio station PR giving out free tix to the opening night.
If you dig Vampire/Supernatural books, the Southern Vampire Series is pretty good (Trueblood on HBO is based).
I just stumbled across this site and I have to admit that I love Imy!!!She reminds me a lot of myself.
Okay, I’ve looked at it daily since you posted this, and her body position continues to give me a sore back. Not that it’s wrong, I just haven’t been able to get in that position for the last few decades…
OK, So I have to admit… Until I saw your comic this morning, I had no idea this was a movie based off a book. LMAO I just thought “Oh! A new vampire movie. Can’t wait till it hits HBO and I can see it.” *Self proclaimed Vampire movie lover*.
But, now that I look more, I think I remember seeing that book with the hands holding an apple… I think it was an apple… That Shelby checked out from the school library awhile back. *Sigh* looks like I’m taking her, her boyfriend & their friends to movies soon.
The books were pretty good, I just hate it when people act like vampires and werewolves are real. So don’t, and you’re still on my good side.
Granted you would be anyway because of your awesome comic.
Aw, Imy, say it ain’t so…!
I don’t get why everyone likes Twilight so much. It’s not even that I ‘hate’ it, I just, really don’t care about it. I even went so far as to actually read the first book, all the way through, and I was completely underwhelmed. Everything from the characters themselves to the writing style, it’s all just so… mediocre and predictable. Traits which were then carried over and exponentially amplified in the movies.
The Harry Potter series, on the other hand… made of pure Awesome.
