HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
I received this little treat in my inbox yesterday. You may remember that last Halloween Me! of Prematurely Disappointed sent me a great guest strip where Imy is attacked by the spirits of eaten Halloween candy (click here to read it!). Well yesterday he sent me this EXCELLENT followup! I’m glad to see Imy took care of the situation.

It’s about time I got to this! I finally added some avatars you can use as grvatars, twitter avatars, forum avatars etc. And you can find them at the top of the goodies page right here. There are plenty to choose from. And I hope you guys like them enough to want to use them 🙂
For those of you who don’t know what gravatars are, those are the icons that show up next to your comment here (and many other sites.) If you don’t have a gravatar then a generic image shows there. If you want to get one then head on over to the Gravatar site and sign up!
For those of you who rely on the RSS feeds – I apologize. It’s been brought to my attention that the comics have disappeared from the feeds. I believe I know exactly why this has happened. First off, the ComicPress I just installed shows specially generated RSS images instead of the one on the site. They look great! But you can’t see them. The reason for this is that it doesn’t automatically generate thumbnails for all the old comics. And it SHOULD have generated a thumbnail for this latest one. But I didn’t realize that my permissions weren’t set right. so it didn’t. By the time I fixed it the RSS feed had already been generated with no image.
So, whaddaya gonna do about this, Irma?
Well, from now on any new comics should have an image in the RSS. As for the latest post – I’m wondering if this post will update the feed and finally show that one (and the others I managed to generate). I guess we’ll have to see! But, even if those don’t get fixed, the new ones will hopefully show up without a problem, and the feed will be back to normal.
Also, I’m testing out the size of the generated image. If it’s too small I have the option to make it bigger. So just be patient. It’ll probably take a few tries before I fix up the new RSS feed correctly 🙂
Update: – Looks like publishing this post now fixed the RSS feed and now shows those RSS images that I had generated. Woo! I’ll probably start generating them in a bigger size though, so just wait for the next update to see that.
Yes! It’s worked! And it was ALMOST painless! I had some trouble when I was upgrading CP. but that had mostly to do with me being tired and not reading things correctly. But now it seems everything is in order and I’m so relieved!
So how do you like the new design? I really LOVED the old design, but the upgrade was going to require some redesigning anyway (3 columns instead of 2), so I figured I’d completely update it! It’s still got the same feel of the old one… just different. Of course the header is temporary for the season. Poor, poor Mick!And I still have some tweaks to work on. You’ll notice that the list of archives is gone. That’ll be back within the week. Also, the store is not redesigned. It’s on its own separate pages away from WP so I have to change that manually. The comments are a bit smushed right now, but I’m going to fix that too. (Done!) And some of the older comics are a smidgen too big and break out of that lovely rounded box (Fixed the box now so it’ll fit any size comic!). And a few other little things here and there. But that’s all going to be tweaked in the days and weeks to come.
Right now, though, I’m exhausted. And I have tog et up and clean my apartment because I’m having a party tomorrow now. So I’m going to get some rest. It’s 2am. Yeesh…
I am currently about to upgrade WP and CP on this site from very old versions to very new ones. If everything goes pear shaped I’m so sorry. I feel nauseated from nerves. Crossing my fingers here we go…
UPDATE: So far the upgrade is going smoothly. WP upgraded fine. Things look weird now because I’m updating CP. Please come back again later to see things back to normal (or… an new “normal!).
