117 – Hanging Out Backstage
It has been a LONG time since I drew the guys in their “Hurricane” getups. It’s so much fun to make them look so ridiculous, even if it is a bit more drawing work 😀
Oh AND – if you’re into music as much as I am, my husband just started a music blog where he writes about concerts, albums, and any other tidbits of music-related info he comes across. CHECK IT OUT! (if anyhting looks alittle strange with the design it’s because he’s right now editing some things)

As you know, I’m a Classical music (Berlioz, Beethoven, Mozart, etc.) fan. I’m kind of curious as to whether you or your husband listen to any Classical once in a while. (And, no, commercials don’t count.)
P.S. I also listen to a bit of Rock too, mostly ’60s thru ’80s. (I have yet to hear much post-Brittney worth listening to.) Anything you’d specifically recommend?
GAWD. gotta love 80’s hair metal fashion. that’s what it looks like to me.
The Whammy Bar — LOL!
reynard – I can’t speak for my husband, but I grew up with classical music. It was my dad’s favorite music and he had it playing in the apartment all the time. In addition to that I took ballet for about 8 years and played the violin for 9 years. Classical music was ALWAYS in my life. However, I think as a result I tired out of it. I do not listen to it now, recreationally. Only on New Years Day every year to watch the concert from Vienna. But I haven’t been able to watch that either since my dad died, since it was a tradition he and I enjoyed together. I really LOVE that concert. But it’s going to be a while before I can watch it again.
And post-Britney? Oh I have LOTS of suggestions! Especially if you lean a bit more towards the alternative – The Killers, Jet (lots of 60’s and 70’s influence there, like the Kinks for example), Kings of Leon (AWESOME), Franz Ferdinand, The White Stripes, The Raconteurs (also with Jack White)… I have a ton more, but am drawing a blank.
dgriff – Haha! That’s what it is! Glad it’s obvious enough 😉
Tom – Ha! yeah, I was extremely proud of myself when I came up with that one last year (in the storyline where Ben asks Jay to join “Hurricaine”).
i still want to be a rock star when i grow up!
The Whammy Bar…great play on words!
Man, those zebra pants kill me…
I checked out your husband’s blog…very cool. I’ll check back from time to time for updates!
Well when you finally get something you’ve always wanted, it doesn’t quite turn out the way you planned.
Can we see Jay do the jump split in the next strip? 🙂
You gotta put lipstick and eyeliner on the guys. The “Glam Rock” gods demand it! As far as the costumes…..you nailed it! It’s like they went shopping at a Motley Crue yard sale.
I really like the look of the rock stars, but I agree with orcbuddy – they really need eyeliner and lipstick for that ‘authentic’ look.
Name that hair – is the drummer sporting a “Brian May” or a “Cinderella”.
tyler – Me too!
Teresa -Thanks! And “thanks” from my husband as well! He’s excited about getting readers.
gilly – Isn’t that ALWAYS the way?
Heather – Haha! We’ll see…
Orc and amuletts – You knwo what? last time I drew these guys I had the eyeliner. I just completely forgot about it. I don’t think I’ll add lipstick though, since I don’t even put lipstick on the girls!
Trent – Haha! First time I drew the drummer last year I remarked that he looked like Brian May! LOL it was entirely unintentional!
