440 – Cosmos
A favorite quote of mine. 🙂 I hope that you are all planning to take the chance to catch Comet PANSTARRS in the coming weeks (or have been taking advantage if you are in the southern hemisphere!). I’m hoping the Swedish skies will be nice and clear. My balcony faces the setting sun, so I will hopefully have a good shot at it!
For the Northern hemisphere, 09 & 10 Match are the earliest days we can get our first glimpse. Low to the West, a bit south. On the 10th, look for it to the left of the crescent moon at dusk.
With luck, we’ll get more than a good week before it dims again. If it gets really bright at perihelion, there’s a chance for two to three weeks or more. The only disappointment at this time is the tail is so short. Hopefully that will grow a lot this week.
However. Comet ISON may be a vastly more spectacular show come late November.
the cosmos is also within us
we are made of star stuff
we are a way
the cosmo scan know itself
we have traveled this way before
and there is much to be learned
google up “melodysheep symphony of science” for a bunch of amazing videos. This was one of the first, with that exact quote in it:
