I’ve seen the northern lights 3 times: The first was when I moved here, I saw them from the plane somewhere over Greenland. They were dim and green, but no less magnificent, especially being my first time. The second time was later the same year on my birthday. I just decided to look out the window to see if there were any, and there they were. Some more colors this time. The third time was the following evening, and it was the most spectacular show yet! I stared at the sky knowing there was a good chance. I watched and watched for ages, and suddenly, the sky just EXPLODED in front of me. Every color in the spectrum danced and swirled across the sky. I saw bows and curtains, almost every pattern possible. The show lasted for about a half hour before it died away. I haven’t seen them since. But believe me, I check as often as possible. We’re pretty much out of aurora range here now because the sky is getting too light at night. Soon we won’t even be able to see the stars anymore. I’ll have to wait again for the fall.
