Sniffing the fresh print smell from the booklet? Oh yeah, good times. Now, we could talk about vinyl and tearing off the plastic wrap to open the album cover and stare doe-eyed at the gorgeous album art, something neither mp3s nor cds can replicate… but we won’t.
Or 8-tracks / cassettes and all the fun clearing the unspooled tape from the player.
Yes, mp3s have nothing on yesterday’s music media.
Really? The booklet? I love opening them, too, though. Great moment when you first take the CD out of the case!
I think the booklets rather smell like turpentine and other chemical solvents… Now, Vinyl, that can get the juices flowing! 😀
While I’m so opposed to digital distribution, I love mp3s, and I couldn’t see myself going back to CDs at all. The fact that I can have my whole collection on my mp3 player and take it with me and listen to that instead of the radio in my car makes the world of a difference. I mean, I could do that with CDs too, but thats ALOT of CDs to lug around.
I was never a big CD person, but im not into MP3’s either. But Tyler’s comment about books, I get that. I love my books, even though they are heavy to lug around
First: me!, that’s right whichever way you read it. But why do I get the feeling I’m talking to myself when I know I’m talking to me!? (Maybe I’m just prematurely confused? 😉
Second: There’s nothing quite like the smell of a used book store, especially with lots of old pulp magazines!
Third: (but about the first panel): It looked, just for a second, like “crinkle, crackle” was the sound of Zoe sucking on the straw! Weird!
And, yes, I also join the fan club for Zoe’s beautiful hair. It and she are totally awesome! (I had to go back and read all of the strips with Zoe in them. She does, as you intended, look older, but my impression is that her hair is not actually longer. It just reaches farther because it’s not tied back in a ponytail.)
You’re right! It’s that her hair is let down now, so of course it comes out longer. I’m so happy people are liking it! I really should post the watercolors I did….
Ugh you’re right! I forgot about those! That’s a US only thing I think. When I buy CDs in the States it makes me CRAZY to take off those stupid stickers!!!
I miss the days where the majority of albums had great album art and interesting liner notes. I still like to acquire the physical CD these days, even if I end up ripping them to MP3, but I wish that these extras were still considered important in general. Perhaps with iTunes including some of this stuff it will make a comeback.
I’m with Imy here, love that fresh printed smell. (maybe that’s why i work for a printing company)
I remember being disappointed if the liner notes were just one page, but loved when they folded out into a poster with all the lyrics on the back (like Green Days Insomniac)

in the same way, this is why i prefer real books over digital ones.

Damn straight! (to the comic, not any particular preceding comment – except Tyler. i totally agree, I prefer real boobs over digital.)
Maybe I read that wrong…
…but still true.

omg, SO true! I think the booklet may be the only reason I actually buy CDs 😆 it would suck to be forced one day to buy only mp3s
Yeah but you have to admit, taking that plastic wrap and those pesky adhesive seals off are almost deterent enough when purchasing a CD.

Agreed. *le sigh*
totally normal behaviour, I know people that can actually sniff out if the product is in mint condition.

Dammit! I’ve been sniffing the wrong thing!
might sound weird but I think how you got Zoey’s hair is pretty cute. But itll sound less wierd if I say it looks nice. Oh well…
Just how you drew it, you know…looks nice…anyway…
LMAO… I just LOVE that smell!!!
