I mean simply, that your strip isn’t as gripping as it once was, there aren’t the arcs that once were and the character set that made it interesting doesn’t show up nearly enough.
That doesn’t exempt any strip – syndicated or otherwise (referring to below). Seen the change in Get Fuzzy starting a few years ago? It’s a piece of GARBAGE now. All the characters are gone except the prime 3, there are no worthy arcs, and it’s a piece of junk. Please don’t fall that far.
(Oh… and I don’t pay for that one either, but I do buy the books – except when the content goes south. Why buy a collection that I didn’t enjoy when I read it the first time? I’ve been on this strip for just 6 months or so, caught up in a day or two, sent it to everyone I know that reads web comics, and that’s what I’ve discovered.
btw… Tom’s comment is an example of a moronic comment. Even Dilbert has suffered over the years… he still draws them, but he has businesses to run and cash to count, plus impersonate others on his web forum, manage a restaurant – and you can see it in the rehash of the comics if you’ve read them from the beginning.
I miss the days when rushing to the defense of someone without pausing to consider the validity of a comment as being constructive —— well, there never was such a thing, unfortunately.
Thank you for clarifying what you meant! From your first comment, I wasn’t sure if you were talking about what people used to put into their wine (seriously, that was my first thought), or if you were talking about the message the artist put into the comic, or the effort she invested into it.
Yup… to echo what both Tom and Isabella responded, you did not make any kind of constructive criticism in your first comment. All you said was something about the effort I put into the strip. Which is funny since that’s something you’d know NOTHING about since you have not ever seen how I work.
You’re assumption of me not putting my all into my comic is wrong. Plain and simple.
If you don’t like what my comic is right now, then that’s valid. Not everyone’s going to love it and I don’t expect them to. And I’m not going to get it right all the time. In 6 years of work my strip has evolved with me so there’s no surprise that it may change. I struggle with it sometimes, but so does everyone. I have notes written for story arcs and character ideas that I am constantly trying to figure out how to fit in. And until I figure those things out I’m not just going to go throw them in and hope for the best. I’ve tried that before and failed. But believe me, I work as hard as I did from day one.
I miss the days when people would say constructive things instead of moronic comments about how hard an artist works at their craft 5 days a week and all the hours they put in for your free enjoyment. Those days were good.
Moron here…you made a comment about how much effort Irma put into the comic. Not about the quality of it. You can’t know how much effort she puts into it. Your second comment was much more to the point…if you don’t like the quality of the strip, then that’s fine. These things aren’t for everyone. If you feel the quality of a strip has fallen, that’s your opinion. But your first comment was about the effort being put into it…and trust me, the effort is there. If you don’t like what you’re reading, well, so be it. I’m sure there’s a lot of stuff you love that other people think isn’t all that good, either. Happy Trails!
This is why I say at my favorite bar, “I need an adult!” as I’m drinking my glass of wine. Imy’s not stupid!
Exactly! he may haver her childish moments, but she’s definitely not stupid! 😉
I miss the days when you put everything into it.
What do you mean?

My Wife and I had a similar ‘conversation’ recently…Funny!
Thanks! I really think most of us want to go down routes like this when we’re forced to do boring adult stuff. 😉

paying bills is really not so bad…it’s whether you have to MONEY to pay them that makes you sweat!
Hmm…I actually think you’ve been stepping up your game recently. To each his own, I guess. I really like this strip especially.
horay to refusing to be an adult! 🙂 😀 😛
