The Great American Solar Eclipse is coming up next week! I won’t be lucky enough to be in the States to witness it, but if you are make sure you’ve got protective eyewear (solar eclipse glasses) or that you have a pinhole projector set up!
And if you’re in the path of totality (LUCKY YOU!), then you can view ONLY the totality part without protection, and it will be an AMAZING sight! (leave the pictures for the pros and just soak it in!)
Not really worth it for the few seconds of total eclipse, if you are lucky enough to be in the 100% area. Even at 99.9% the chance of having permanent eye damage is great.
That’s why I write “totality.” Totality is nothing other than 100%, and totality is perfectly safe. And it’s generally not just a few seconds long. It can be a minute or two, depending on where you are on the path. And if you have that opportunity, seeing totality is NOT something you want to miss!
Oh, Irma– you always make me laugh. Thanks
Thanks, Hunter! And thanks for always stopping by!
Guess I will have to look to the news stations for anything to do with it.
Only got to 70% here with things just going dull at most.
Me stuck in an overheated lab all afternoon so no outdoors to see even that little bit.
Off to the NASA website tonight for an instant replay.
Got to see it in person. FREAKIN AWESOME!!
I wasn’t in the totality path, but I totally enjoyed watching it with the pinhole projector box I made. Unfortunately, the weather slapped us with heavy cloud cover shortly after the peak.
