Imy and Kat Sketch – Take 2
Remember this pencil sketch I did a few weeks ago? Well tonight I finally had the chance to ink it (real ink ON paper). It was a challenge, since I’m really not used to it. And I learned something new – since I get so nervous while inking, I end up holding my breath for too long. I should probably work on that…
Anyway, after I inked it, I scanned it in and colored it in Photoshop. Which is the first time I’ve ever done that. I color digitally all the time. But I never before colored something that was done in paper and ink and scanned in. And also I’ve only just done very few sketches on paper up till now anyway.
Here’s the result!
I am SO proud of myself. This is a big step for me! Of course I have a lot to learn, but this proves that if I wanted to I COULD draw my strips in paper and ink, and then post-produce in photoshop. I don’t think I’ll be making that crossover, but I will definitely be doing more separate pieces this way.
I wonder if I should make this into a desktop…
Yay line variation. Looks good ^^ What did you use to ink with?
Looks great!
elmindreda – Thanks! I used microns. (.005. .01, .03, .05, .08)
Tom – Thanks so much!
Looks good That’s what I do for Shallow Waters is I draw then ink then color in photoshop But its looks wonderful as does all your work.
Looks Awesome! 🙂 Great job! 🙂
Very nice. I draw “Fake Life” on paper and scan it in. I used to pencil then ink, then just ink, now I use a mech pencil to draw and shop it later when I scan. (Although I keep forgetting to install a decent raster editor like GIMP so I use MS-Paint. ugh.) I’m working on using a “vector trace” to vectorize my scans and make it REALLY look good.
Something you’ll notice with ink (an pencil, if you B/W it.) is that the lines look fuzzy zoomed in on thicker lines. Especially if you let the ink soak into the paper too long. That’s the most irritating part of the ‘shopping process, IMO.
Looks fantastic to me..It would make a great desktop!!
I agree. PLEASE make it a desktop as I will be the first to use it on my computer!
TEQUILA!
