116 – Two Fourteen
I’m SO sorry that this went up so late today. I knew I had a concert to go, so I made sure I started working a day ahead of time so I could finish everything in time. Ha! I completely underestimated how long this one would take me. Even looking at it I don’t see how it could have taken me soooooo long. But it did. Anyway, now it’s done *phew.*
So, I went to see The Script tonight and it was KICK ASS. It was at a small place in town called Nalen. It was packed and they did a really great show. Full of energy and they played really well. Plus the sound was GREAT. A shame about 80 percent of the Swedes there stood around like they were watching someone make a speech. SNORE. But I screamed and sang along to every song and enjoyed myself, and I didn’t care if I did drew attention to myself. Oh, and it seemed like it was mostly “Top 40” fans there (If you don’t understand that, it’s a term I coined in this strip.). Honestly, don’t people care about the OTHER songs on albums anymore? Gawd.

6th panel…me and my wife.
nice color work on the “past” view.
I think music downloads have killed secondary tracks. People no longer even buy entire albums, just the songs they want which are the ones they know from “top 40”. Damn that technology! How many more deaths at your expense!
Cute strip – nice color palette on the flashbacks (or ditto tyler).
rofl what a cute couple, “me!” bust be getting very jealous
Nice strip! And glad you had fun at the concert 🙂 BTW, where is Imy’s other arm in panel #6? I’m not trying to be picky, it just looks odd to me…
I’ll leave now…
*runs for cover*
tyler – Ha! yes, it’s me and my husband too! And thanks!
me! – Well boo! Everyone knows the BEST stuff usually are NOT the singles. People are just being lazy, allowing other people dictate to them what songs they should like. They are missing out – as I’m sure many people realized at the show last night when all they could do was bop their heads at the “other” songs.
gilly – Well, he’s trying to make Ben look bad in his comic, so yeah I think he is 😉
Josh – Haha! You’re right, it does look a wee bit akward. But it’s not missing! It’s tucked behind Jay.
That seems to be something I’d do too (Ben). But I’d skip the singing. Bleeding ears on Valentine’s day = not good.
By the way. I *LOVE* how Kat looks in this strip (ponytailed), I think mainly it isn’t a huge thing of hair that looks completely unmanagable. I’ve had hair 3/4 the length of Kat’s usual hair, it was straighter too, but completely unmanageable. (and before anyone asks, I am a guy, I just don’t like the short hair look on me.)
Scary note: I almost filled in the the website text with a universal password of mine. Yikes!
Jay does have a nice big smile on his face. I’ll assume Irma is leavin the placement of Imy’s other arm to the reader’s imagination.
Giant teddy bears, home cooked dinner and a serenade. The dude is killing the rest of us (well, me anyway – although the gift I gave this year was a wii and guitar hero so I guess I don’t totally suck).
Sorry for double commenting but I just noticed this: Kat has a bra strap showing. And the shirt is designed to show it. When did it become socially acceptable for a bra strap to show? Am I too “good ol’ boy”? I’m not even old. ACK!
Doug – Haha! It’s not a bra strap – it’s a tank top! And yes, Kat definitely has a handle on her hair. It’s the type of hair that can become unmanageable easily, but she’s not letting it happen… yet… True story – Kat’s hair was inspired by a friend of mine’s. Long, dark, and curly. and She ALWAYS had it looking completely tame, as if it was the easiest thing in the world. I have very long straight hair which makes me crazy sometimes, and I can’t figure out how she does it. Apparently Kat knows the secret too 🙂
Trent – Haha! Well, he may be going a bit overboard, but he has has been harboring a thing for Kat since college, so he’s got years of planning to work on! 😉 And… damn… a Wii? All I got was a card and a hug. That’s it, YOU’RE my valentine next year. I’m looking to upgrade my flatscreen.
Imy’s V-day is more along the lines of mine. Usually we do comedy shows, this year we saw Coraline and went out for greek food. Usually I get a video game as a gift! weee!
Nice job on this storyline. It’s coming along quite nicely!
Glad you enjoyed your show too!
I agree with the above–very nice colours. They set the mood for a charming strip.
I stumbled across your site while doing research for my own future comic strip site, and I have to say I love your work. The progression in artistic style from your first strip to your current strip is amazing. Rock on!
