Back in Business!

It’s a looong story. And I plan on expanding on it a bit in my blog tomorrow, but the ending is that I have a brand new computer and I’m back in business! Of course, getting everything set up, installed, and copied over from the old hard drive is going to take a WHILE. But, whatever. I finally have my own computer again. Which means, the comic is coming back!

So, I’ll be starting up with comic #29 on Monday the 31st or March. YES! I’ve missed you all!

The Third Comatose Computer Update

I really really really miss working on my comic. Like so much it hurts. I miss illustrating. I miss using my wacom. It’s so lonely on my desk collecting dust. I am going out of my mind. This past 4 day weekend was the longest ever. I haven’t been able to use my laptop since Wednesday night. As of now that’s almost 5 whole days. *sigh*

Today we take the computer in for an estimate on repairs. I am HOPING AND PRAYING above all that it can be fixed within a reasonable price and time.

Otherwise I’ve already decided I am not getting Vista. But I really don’t want to go through the hassle of getting a new comp with XP. Besides, my computer was PERFECT. Everything was set up perfect. And everything ran beautifully.

Just a note for those who own Acer computers – It seems my problem is common among them. Even though it’s not a hard drive issue, I urge you to keep frequent backups. Although this is true for any computer… But still. Acer people, watch out.

Comatose Computer Update

My fantastic hubby convinced me not to turn in my laptop just yet, and instead go buy an adapter for the hard drive so we can back it up first. I was scared, but he was convincing enough and I thought it would be good for my sanity if I new everything was safe before the holiday weekend. Besides, this computer stuff is what he does. We both may have been in the same major, and taken the same classes in college, but he actually paid attention and was interested in it (instead of paying attention I was designing my next website n my head).

Anyway, I bought this adapter thingamabob and he was able to copy everything over to his hard drives. I am SO relieved. Bored as all get out, but relieved. So I still don’t have my computer, of course. We won’t be able to turn it in until Tuesday because of the holiday. Then we’ll see how much it costs, and if it’s just best to get a new laptop (I really don’t want to though, I love my baby!).

Quick question: Anyone use Vista? How is it? I am a hardcore XP fan and do NOT want to leave it. But if I have to get a new computer, I may have to get Vista. How is compatibility? Am I going to be bugged to death by it? I heard long ago that it doesn’t leave you alone…

So anyway, still no updates in comics until this all gets fixed. Either way, I’ll either have my computer fixed by the end of next week, or I’ll have a new one. Cross your fingers (or hold your thumbs if you’re here in Sweden…) for me that I don’t have to buy a new one!!!

My Computer is DEAD – No comic today/next week.

SUCKS.

Last night my computer died. It refused to start up. This happened last Saturday but it started working again after a half hour. I thought it was the fan. But this time, it’s not going back on, not even after a night of sitting. After much research all signs are pointing to the motherboard. My hubby is taking it into the shop today. But things aren’t going to happen because it’s the last day before Easter vacay and Sweden shuts down until Tuesday. So they probably won’t get to start working on it until Tuesday the earliest. And that’s assuming they don’t have to order the motherboard.

I’m most freaked out about my info. While I have backed up stuff another backup was necessary and I hadn’t done it. I’m FREAKED OUT. It shouldn’t be a problem, but I can’t help but worry. I’m sick to my stomach. And how am I supposed to survive a 4 day weekend without my computer? This is the great chance I have to draw things and work on my sites.

So, no comic. I don’t have my programs or anything. So I can’t make my comic. No comic today. And probably no comic on Monday either, unless they magically fix everything today. This sucks so much. I was looking forward to having a few days to work on everything. I’m SO UPSET.

Now excuse me while I go sit in the corner and rock back and forth. And probably cry – a lot…
