Today’s Fan Art comes from Mike Phillips of Apathetic Rant! He’s captured Imy is his great cartoon-y style that I love. Look at her hair! It’s very Rawk-y! For more of the same you should go check out his very funny comic and read back into the archives a bit! Also go check out his other 1-panel comic, Far Too Cute. The title pretty much explains it – each comic he draws something that is far too cute 🙂 It’ll definitely make you smile!

Introducing: Friday Fan Art

Starting with this week all fan art will now be posted on Fridays. Consider it an extra treat at the end of the week! Of course, this will only be when I have fan art to display. As it stands right now I have a piece of fan art ready and waiting to go up on Friday. That’ll make it the 4th week in a row! It would be great if I would continue this weekly for as long as possible. 😉

Would you like to submit fan art? You are very welcome to! You can create a piece on any one (or many) of my characters. You can include your own characters (like Tom did), or just draw the character in whatever situation you want. Use your own style and have fun! But before you get started here are a few simple guidelines (I was naive enough to think I didn’t need these. I was proved wrong quite recently.):

  1. Mail all submissions to irma(AT)imycomic.com
  2. Anyone can submit – if you’re a fan, then it’s Fan Art. You don’t have to be another cartoonist.
  3. Your piece will be displayed on the page at a maximum of 600px. If you make it bigger than that I will shrink it down for the post but link to the original. But keep in mind that the first impression for anyone who sees will be at a maximum of 600px.
  4. Have fun and be creative as you want BUT use common sense when creating your fan art. Respect my characters. Please do not submit anything in poor taste, mean spirited or insulting to my creations.
  5. I reserve the right to NOT post any particular piece of fan art sent to me. This would usually be a result of anyone breaking guideline #4. I really don’t expect this to be a problem I have to deal with often, but, sadly, it needs to be said.
  6. All posted fan art will also be displayed on the Fan Art page
  7. There is no time limit for this. This is a continuing project.

I think that’s it. Nothing really strange there I don’t think, right? Have fun and I can’t wait to see what people submit!

Fan Art by Tom Dell’Aringa

The above is a FANTASTIC fan art created by the talented and witty Tom Dell’Aringa, creator of the Marooned webcomic. I LOVE Marooned and have been reading it for a while now. Marooned is about Captain John, an astronaut, and ASIMOV, his ex-garbage-can/robot, who end up stranded on Mars. They find out that Martians do actually exist when they meet Ugo, the Little Green Man. 🙂 What happens from there is what this comic is all about, and the story is just beginning! I suggest you head on over to Marooned, start reading from the beginning, and then admit to yourself that you’re hooked and think Tom is simply brilliant.

Now, BACK to the fan art! Tom has, very cleverly, hooked up Imy and ASIMOV there. They seem to be having a ball rockin’ out, don’t they? Now, I just wonder… what song is ASIMOV playing? 😉 Better watch out Tom, Imy might not let you have ASIMOV back! She’s already tried to steal a dragon once, I wouldn’t put it past her to claim the robot for herself – especially one that will drink with her and play music! (a mobile club, if you will…)

Fan Art by David Buist

David surprised me with this a few days ago. How cool is that? I love how he drew her in his style with four fingers and all. She is rocking out just as she should be 😀

David is the creator of Taking the Bypass, a very funny and well drawn comic strip. I love his drawing style. You definitely need to head on over there and read the latest strip and then go back and read the archive.

Guest Strip over at Pinkerton!

Preview of Pinkerton Guest Strip by me

A little while back Mike Witmer of Pinkerton (one of my FAV FAV FAV comics) sent out an open call too all fans to send in a guest strip. He’d then choose his 5 favorite and then post them for a week while he was on vacation. He ended up extended it to a week and a half and two day ends that 1½ guest strip stint. And today’s strip is the one I sent in! I’m very honored that Wit chose mine among all the super-talented artists who sent in submissions. All the guest strips have been FANTASTIC and, despite the fact that I’ve missed the real Pinkerton characters, they’ve been a lot of fun to read.
