230 – Imy: Unplugged
UPDATE: Comic returns June 7th – click here for more info
OK, so you’re probably wondering what’s going on here. This strip, for the first time EVER was done completely on paper with ink (except for the monotoned coloring, which was added in Photoshop). There are a few reasons for this.
1) I wanted to prove to myself (and the skeptics) that I can, in fact, DO IT ALL ON PAPER IF I WANTED TO.
2) Time constraints with the moving, and lack of full access to my computer inspired me to do the paper thing once and for all.
3) I wanted to give you something special while I spend the next week and a half in moving HELL.
I have ridiculous amounts to do this week. And this coming weekend is my move. So the next strip won’t go up until Thursday the 3rd of June. Anyone who’s moved understands. Anyone who hasn’t… well… one day you WILL move, and get it.
I am so pleased with how it came out. Is it perfect? Of course not. But this was my first time!!! The lettering is crap. Because lettering is FREGGIN’ HARD. It’s bad enough that my handwriting is horrible to begin with. The lines, in general, aren’t anywhere as smooth as usual, because adobe illustrator (the program I normally use to draw) is magic. I, however, am not.
But I’m still happy with it. Even if no one else likes it, I’m still patting myself on the back 😉
Anywho, enough. See you guys on June 3rd!! And after that there will be NO MORE interruptions int he Imy/Cherry storyline!
Oh, and thank you Marc, of Spooky Doofus, for giving me the inspiration on Twitter for the name for this strip 😉

I think the comic turned out awesome, you’re better than give yourself credit. And you think your handwriting is bad, you should see mine 🙂
Good luck with the move!
PS: be very/ careful with that other box 😀
Nice! There’s a warmth to pen and paper comics that I appreciate. I’m glad you tried it out! 🙂
The hand drawn Imy looks nice Irma! Good luck with the move, I know how that can be, I have moved five times in ten years.
nicely done.
And good luck with the move. Moving does indeed suck.
I completely agree with everyone else, especially the first commenter – don’t compare all the details to what it would like in the digital. This is hand made. This is special. If it looked like you’d done it on the computer, what would be the point? Now all can see that it’s hand drawn, and yes – you rock that too! 🙂
*what it would look like in the digital, is obviously what I meant to say! 😀
Good luck with the moving 🙂
I think it looks very cool! And I’d love to see more hand drawn stuff after “Da big move”… You’re probably kidding yourself with that second box, though… Should say something like “CD’s 1of949347”.
All the best and a lot of strength for this week!!
-D.
“Should say something like ‘CD’s 1 of 949347’.”
Understatement. Of. The. Year.
Now I’ve got nothing to look forward to till next January… except more Imy updates! 😀
so this is what IMY would look like printed in the newspapers.
It came out great, Irma. Good job!
Very nice hand-drawn comic right there…
Only complaint I could possibly have is I look at it and “I like big butts” starts singing in my head. 😛
My best regards with the move!
Hey, I think it was pretty good. I could not do anything as good by hand. Good luck on your move, and I will see you when you get back to updating!
I really like it Irma. I hope that the move goes well!!!
Thanks all! I’m glad you guys like it!
And thanks for the well wishes for the move! My apartment is currently a city of cardboard skyscrapers!
Hope you don’t have a 5 story walk up. Strip is great as always.
Moving philosophy – does there come a time in one’s life when it’s no longer appropriate to ask your friends to help you move? What is an appropriate age / life stage where you take pity on your posse and pay 2guyswithatruck to haul all your crap from point A to B?
At least moving gives you a great opportunity to lighten your load. If you’re like my wife, you have 50 sweaters that haven’t seen the outside of the closet since the last move. Stuff gets old. Give it a new home.
Hey Rick, wanna help me move? HAHA
Hope the move goes easy for you!
Very pretty. Welcome to the “Pen and Paper” club!
I actually love how you put yourself in your comics! Made me smile 🙂
